Velvet Spleen is a club for those who want to use their art and talent for the greater good... or greater bad.

From spreading positive messages to fight the system rebellion, this club is all about purpose and reaction. Whatever you post, there should be a message underlining the art, do you want it to brighten someones day? is it a protest? a simple statement of feeling? or a call to change the realities with which we live?

Become a friend of Velvet Spleen and you can join this exciting movement. Submit ideas and artworks - be they poster, sticker, photograph, installation, written or simply thought - and together use art for its most powerful purpose... to change the world.

Velvet Spleen will always be open to any kind of submission but will also be featuring specific projects to get involved in, based off people’s submitted ideas (full credits given). So be on the lookout for those.

GOING UNDERGROUND - submitting work
Send us a note (or email velvetspleen@hotmail.com) with deviation as the topic
In this include:
• the title of your deviation
• a link to your deviation
• a description of the message: tell us about your work and how you came to creating it, any dead ends you hit or why you chose to do something in the fiirst place. Remember the idea is really the most important thing here.
• Speaking of ideas, if you have one for a potential project, concept of topic... anything really, just note or email us describing it.

REBEL NOT AGAINST - rules
• Submissions can indude your own work or work that you have seen around the place (for example street art in your local area, just take a photo and submit it with your thoughts on what was trying to be said). For your personal work we ask that a description of what your message is be included.

• If a controversial topic make sure you explain your work thoroughly. Velvet Spleen doesn’t condone cencorship but reserves the right to selectively choose the artwork to upload if there isn’t a mature message to be seen your work will not be included.

• It really is all about the message and the idea. If neither is strong enough the work will not be included. But don’t despair, if you want help with either then that’s what we’re here for. Ask around the club, bounce some thoughts around and see what you get back.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF
Alright for our first themed project, we’re asking everyone to convey a positive message by any means possible. The message is “Believe in Yourself”, however, it does not need to be done in bright colors, or conventional means. Here at the Velvet Spleen Movement we strive for underground and rebellious, so use your imaginations. Stickers or posters posted in public places, photographs, traditional or digital art, it doesn’t matter much to us as long as you get the message across.

Reason for this message: Believeing in oneself isn’t usually something that’s easy to do, I have trouble with it myself. But, if we inspire at least one person to feel better about themselves in one way or another, this project will be a success.
